BFN and Spotting

No good news, just bad news. I tested yesterday and today (10 and 11dpo). Both were BFNs. I spotted a little yesterday which had me clinging to hope that it was implantation, but I'm still spotting today. I think AF will be here very soon.

I am sad beyond measure and feeling very defeated. Tim and I will be taking at least a month off to recover from this roller coaster ride, but we are not ready to give up completely yet. I'll post more when I have the energy.

Awww I am so sorry LGL. (( hugs )) Don't give up yet! I spotted for two days before BFP. You are in my T&P.

Glossary of acronyms and terms

2ww- Two week wait, the 2 weeks after ovulation before testing for pregnancy

3dt and 5dt- 3 and 5 day transfer. This refers to how long after retrieval, transfer is done. Generally 3dt is done when there are fewer embryos to chose from, 5dt allows you to watch and see which embies are most likely to make it prior to transfer.

AF- Aunt Flo (period)

BBT- Basal body temparature, waking temperature used for charting

Beta- Beta HCG levels in the blood are used to determine pregnancy. Betas should double every 48-72 hours in the weeks following implantation. Once the level is over 2000, the doubling will slow down.

BFN- Big fat negative (negative HPT)

BFP- Big fat positive

CD- Cycle day (CD1 is first day of period)

Chart- Taking temparature every morning to look for a pattern of ovulation

CH- Crosshairs, lines that mark ovulation on fertility friend

DPO- Days past/post ovulation

ER- Egg retrieval. This consists of sticking a needle transvaginally and aspirating the follicles to get eggs directly from the ovaries

ET- Embryo transfer. The procedure is similar to IUI, but instead of sperm, embryo(s) are placed in the uterus. My clinic does this under ultrasound guidance so you can see the embies get put in.

FF- Fertility Friend, the software that I use to chart

IF- Infertility

IUI- Intrauterine insemination

IVF- In vitro fertilization

HCG- Human chorionic gonadotropin, hormone detected in pregnancy tests

HPT- Home pregnancy test

O- Ovulation

OPK- Ovulation predictor kit

PG- Pregnant

POAS- Pee on a stick, take a pregnancy test

Stims- Injectable medications that stimulate follicle production (follicle stimulating hormone +/- leutenizing hormone)

Trigger- Injection that triggers ovulation, usually HCG
